Celebrating Love of Reading Month: Sparking a Passion for Books at Coyote Trail Elementary

As Marana Unified School District celebrates Love of Reading Month, we’re proud to recognize Coyote Trail Elementary first grade teacher Lindsey Buckler, who is taking action to build strong readers.
Understanding that reading success begins at home, Mrs. Buckler set out to make sure every child in her classroom has access to books of their own. Through the support of families, she raised $500 and used those funds to purchase books through Scholastic for just $2 each. Thanks to her efforts, every student in her class receives a free book to take home each month.
Her classroom initiative is a part of the larger, nationwide literacy effort through Scholastic, where educators across the country raised more than $1.7 million last year to support classroom libraries and increase student access to books.
MUSD is proud of the dedication Mrs. Buckler shows in fostering a love of reading and creating opportunities for her students to thrive.
